The Department of Transport and Public Works appointed Jacobs Parker Architects to refurbish an existing office building into a “shared services centre.” The centre houses public interfaces for the Agriculture and Social Development departments, as well as offices, boardrooms and meeting
rooms.

The ground and first floor façades were redesigned to be more transparent, welcoming and contemporary. External fire escape stairs were added in order to meet National Building Regulations. These, together with the added balconies and courtyards were designed to add a sense of human scale and much needed detail to the generally bland rear façade.
