Located in the picturesque setting of Constantia, House Waner embodies the ideals of incorporating the surrounding views and working positively with the site topography. The client has an affinity for Cape Dutch architecture. This is reflected in the barn like architecture employed.
The separate barns create interstitial spaces that form the main movement routes through the home. The fragmented form also works with the site topography and creates spatial tension. A sense of place is achieved through the use of wall and timber shutters that shade and provide privacy when needed.
